What It Means To Be A Servant

Writer: BrinleyBrinley

Have you ever heard the Bible mention how we're supposed to be a servant to each other? You know, Jesus washed the disciple's feet as an act of being a servant and all that stuff? Well, the Bible says we're supposed to be a servant to others just like Jesus did.

Jesus says in John 12:26, "If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the father will honor him." So, if we serve others, God (the father) will honor us.

One reason a lot of people choose not to be a servant, is that it's too much work or it takes to much time. Just to clarify, by servant I mean a servant of God, not a servant as in a job. So Jesus calls us to be a servant, which means that if we serve we are following his command, but if we do not we are sinning.

Some ways we can be a servant include simple ways like holding the door open for someone, or harder ways like making a meal for someone. There are millions of ways to be a servant to others, you just have to choose to put in the time and effort to follow Jesus' command and be a servant to one another.
