Have you ever heard people say "me first then you", or something that is related to yourself going first. Well, the Bible says something a bit different about that. The Bible says to put others before yourself. Philippians 2:3-4 says: Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Galatians 5:22-23 is about the Fruit of the Spirit. The Fruit of the Spirit is all about putting others before oneself. For the Fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and, self-control. We as Christians need to put others before our selves. Putting others first is a priority. Non-believers also need to put others first. A good example is Christmas. At Christmas time, what is everybody mostly focused on? GIFTS! Some people are receivers and all they want is presents all for themselves. Those people who are focused in giving others gifts, is putting family and friends first before them. I like to recieve gifts, but I mostly like to give gifts to others......even when I don't have enough money. Although that is not the reason for Christmas, we celebrate Christmas to rejoice thqat the Savior of the world has been born... JESUS! Jesus is the reason for all the seasons.
Anyways, my point ot make is that we have to put others before ourselves to please God and to be a good example to others.
Here is a fun and silly song to remind us of the Fruit Of The Spirit:
