A common question for Christians is "What does heaven look like?" Well, that's kind of a hard question to answer. So, unlike any people think, heaven did not always exist, it was created the same time that Earth was. (Genesis 1:1)
In the Bible, heaven is described as a both a city, and a bride, coming down from heaven to Earth like the staircase described in Jacob's dream.
“The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass” is how heaven is described in Revelation 21:21.
Also, Revelation 21:1 then states: "And he showed me a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb". The reference is interpreted as the Holy Spirit on the throne of God and of the Lamb".
In heaven, we don’t become angels. But, we will be with angels. There will be many angels, and there will also be creatures created specifically to worship God in heaven.
Also, we will recognize our loved ones and other people from our life here in earth. How? I’m not quite sure. But, I also know that we will not mourn our loved ones who end up going to hell because there is no sadness in heaven.
Even though there is no sadness, we still will have emotions in heaven. Emotions like love and joy, Luke 15:7 says; Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.
