Before you even say it, this is not about THAT kind of love. This is about the love that God has for us, and the love we should have for Him and everyone else in return.
God loves us SO much, that I can’t even begin to tell you how much He loves you. You’ve probably heard John 3:16 before, it’s one of the Bible’s most famous verses, it says; For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. That verse is so well known that I feel that a lot of people don’t take time to think about what it truly means. Picture yourself as a parent, (I know it’s hard!) you only have one son and you choose to give that son up in a painful death so other people can live. That’s how much God loves you. When asked, Jesus said that the most important commandment was to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind. He also said that the second greatest is to love your neighbor as yourself*. So… how do we do it? For some people it can be hard to love God, because they blame Him for the loss of loved ones and other tragedies that may have happened in their life. But God did not make these things happen, He let them happen for the greater good even if we may not see the greater good yet. God lets these things happen because He loves us. So instead of not loving God because of those things we should love Him for those things and many other reasons.
